Hi, I'm Kelly, owner and photographer at Kelly Lemenze Photography! I have been an equestrian for over 25 years and have been taking pictures almost as long! While I don't ride nearly as often as I used to (job, kids, you get the picture!), I am grateful to get my regular horse fix by offering equine portrait and private horse show photography and videography to the New Jersey equestrian community and surrounding areas.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I grew up horse back riding and took my first lesson when I was 8 years old. I got my love of photography from my dad, and when he began to teach me how to use film and digital cameras, I naturally began trying to capture the beauty of horses through my lens. When I was 13, I got my first job and scrimped and saved my paychecks to buy my first DSLR camera—a Canon Rebel XTi—carting it along any time I went to the barn. I would sit near the ring and take pictures of anybody who was riding, obsessed with capturing the perfect photo. Over the years, I got to know my camera like the back of my hand and taking photos was like second nature.

 

Maybe a little more surprisingly, I did not go to college for photography. I channeled my creativity into a degree in graphic design and now work full-time as a Digital Strategist at an advertising agency. But I never put down my camera. After college, I worked for local and national photographers at horse shows covering English disciplines from hunter/jumpers to eventing to dressage. I worked local shows on the weekends and used my vacation days to join the photography teams that covered Vermont Summer Festival, World Equestrian Center in Ohio, and NCEA National Championships, to name a few.

 

In 2018, I officially started Kelly Lemenze Photography. Before focusing on private client services, I was the official horse show photographer for several local shows, including Brookside Show Series, Smoke Rise Riding Club, Applewood Farm Schooling Shows, Black River Farm, MET Charity Show at USET Headquarters, and the NJHSA Bonus Point Show at Duncraven.
